Mountain Area Abortion
Doula Collective

MAADco’s support line is currently CLOSED

We made the decision to max out our budget to fully fund Appalachian abortion seekers who were turned away from other funds due to budget caps.

Now, our beloved Blue Ridge community is working day and night to obtain and distribute supplies needed to survive and rebuild after the devastation of Hurricane Helene. Many comrades and MAADco collective members are still without water, power, or access to essential health care. We are focusing our efforts on disaster relief in Western North Carolina.

Funding mutual aid and grassroots orgs is essential now more than ever. To keep MAADco’s support line open, please consider give monthly, so we can plan and rely on those dollars. For Helene disaster relief, please donate to local vetted mutual aid.

Providing compassionate, non-judgmental, gender inclusive care to anyone seeking abortion in Asheville & surrounding areas.

Our mission is to support abortion access and provide doula care to the greater Western NC community through a reproductive justice lens.

Free Palestine!

The Mountain Area Abortion Doula Collective stands unequivocally in support of Palestine and against the forces of Israeli genocide, Zionism and apartheid.

As a collective of abortion companions providing support to our community through a reproductive justice lens, MAADco recognizes the genocide in Gaza as a specific threat to the reproductive freedom of Palestinians. Israel’s attacks on Gaza are emblematic of broader patterns of settler colonialism and cultural genocide that exist throughout the globe, including the continuous colonial project of the United States.

Of the 30,000+ people that have been killed in Gaza, over half are children. Multiple hospitals, including neo-natal units, have been bombed in Gaza since

October 7th.  Additionally, recent reports reveal that the Israeli government has been forcefully sterilizing  African immigrants. Over 50,000 pregnant people live in Gaza. Pregnant people living in Gaza face the constant threats of famine, thirst, bombings, and pregnancy loss due to medical neglect. This specific threat to the generative health and generational continuity of Palestinian communities is an intentional and strategic act in line with the broader goals of settler colonialism.

It is our duty and responsibility as advocates for reproductive justice and autonomy to forcefully stand against this ongoing atrocity. We must recognize the parallels between the horror that is happening in Gaza with ongoing threats to the health and survival of Black and indigenous children living in the so-called United States. We condemn the complicity of the mainstream United States reproductive rights movement for failing to name and address this ongoing catastrophe. Furthermore, we must recognize acts of resistance to the United States military industrial complex, which funds and enables Israeli apartheid, as integral to our work as advocates for reproductive freedom. Locally in Asheville, we must struggle against the expansion of Pratt and Whitney, a subsidiary of Raytheon which manufactures fighter jets and other weapons of war currently used as instruments of genocide in Gaza.

From the River to the Sea, Palestine will be free!

With love and rage,

MAADco
