Who we are
The Mountain Area Abortion Doula Collective (MAADCo) formed in 2019 as a grassroots effort to support people seeking abortion in Asheville and the greater Western NC area. We exist to support abortion access and provide care to everyone through a reproductive justice lens.
Why.
MAADCo was formed in response to the lack of gender-inclusive practical support for folks seeking abortion in and around Asheville. MAADCo members believe that access to abortion is a vital part of bodily autonomy, and that doulas are invaluable in supporting folks in that process.
Who.
To protect everyone, we do not publish doula identities online. We are an entirely volunteer run collective and are all current Asheville community members. We are happy to meet in person or over the phone prior to your appointment in order to best support you.
How.
MAADCo is a constantly evolving collective. We adapt according to the needs of the community and our own growth as a collective. Due to the pandemic, we are currently providing financial support, logistical planning, pre- and post-abortion care packages, car rides, and phone or in-person support for emotional processing.
